The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences is looking for three new professors in plant pathology, in microbial ecology in forest ecosystems and in forest pathology at the Department of forest mycology and plant pathology.

Plant pathology

The subject plant pathology comprises basic and applied issues with a focus on agricultural crops. The subject includes, for example, plant-microbial interactions, genetics of plant pathogens, disease resistance and biological control, with significance for crop production and plant health in agriculture.

Microbial ecology in forest ecosystems

The subject area for the position is forest microbiology, with focus on microbial ecology in forest ecosystems. The subject includes ecology and/or evolution of symbiotic-, plant-associated and free-living soil microorganisms, including bacteria, archaea, fungi and eukaryotic microorganisms, and their interactions with trees, other plants and the surrounding environment.

The research can include, but is not limited to, research on plant-soil feedbacks, nutrient cycling, and climate change. The research can address both fundamental and applied research questions of relevance for forest ecosystems.

Forest pathology

The subject area for the position is forest pathology. The subject includes disease on trees and forest ecosystems, primarily those caused by pathogenic fungi. The research can include, but is not limited to, interactions between trees and pathogenic fungi, fundamental biology (genomics, evolution, ecology) of forest pathogenic fungi, disease resistance, and research on invasive species.

The research can address both fundamental and applied research questions of relevance for the subject area, forest ecosystems and forest health.
