Introducing the Nordic Society Oikos Board! Representing Sweden is Per Lundberg, a theoretical ecologist and evolutionary biologist, and a professor of theoretical ecology at Lund University. Per joined the Board in 2022.

A general theory of biodiversity.

Why do you enjoy being part of our societies?
A great forum for exchange of ideas, including the journals.

What are your aspirations as a member of the NSO Board?
To be able to handle the rapidly changing landscape of scientific publishing, including all the threats to it.

What do you see as the role of our societies within the big picture of global ecology and its applications?
All learned societies play a role in promoting academic values and science.

What did you miss most during the height of the pandemic?
Personal meetings with colleagues.

Favorite organism:
The common swift.

Favorite ecosystem:
Deserts.

Favorite book:
The Cornish Trilogy by Robertson Davies.

Favorite movie:
Lost in Translation.

Favorite hobby or activity:
Renaissance art and literature. Also cooking and drinking wine.
